IBM® Lotus® Expeditor software is IBM's universal desktop client integration framework. It assists developers in integrating a wide variety of client and server applications in business mashups - or composite applications - to optimize the information that your employees need to accelerate your business processes. Use it to extend your IBM Lotus or IBM WebSphere® Portal (or other IBM WebSphere or Eclipse™) or other application infrastructures such as Microsoft applications. Lotus Expeditor software supports laptops, desktops, kiosks and mobile device clients. It provides the flexibility of service oriented architecture (SOA) and a standards-based programming model from the OSGi™ alliance and the Eclipse foundation.

IBM Lotus Expeditor 是 IBM 的通用受管客户机软件平台，它提供了运行时环境和集成的中间件组件集合，用于将复合应用程序扩展到膝上型电脑、台式机、信息站和移动设备，是 IBM WebSphere Everyplace Deployment 的后续版本。可用于将 IBM Lotus、IBM WebSphere、IBM Workplace™ 或 Eclipse™ 基础架构扩展到某个受管的客户机环境。作为 Microsoft .NET 客户机软件的替代产品，Lotus Expeditor 提供了基于 Eclipse 的来自面向服务架构（SOA）和开放标准的灵活性。目前已经有很多的项目使用Expeditor来开发富客户端的应用，新版本的Lotus Notes8和Sametime底层平台就是Lotus Expeditor，可以说依靠Lotus expeditor构建的Notes和sametime，大家可以使用lotus expeditor构建自己的商业和协作软件。

主要特点：
1。操作系统支持Linux，Windows，Mac，Mobile OS（palm，Symbian，etc）
2。基于开放标准，基于Eclipse RCP和OSGI，基于SOA设计理念。灵活选择操作系统，浏览器，标准组件，ODF标准文档组件，易于扩展。
3。复合应用（composite application），支持ws和J2ee 2大阵营，包括Java™ Foundation Class Swing、文本终端、Microsoft Visual Basic 和 ActiveX 、applet，到本机或 Web 视图，如 Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (Ajax)、Adobe PDF、Java Server Pages 和表单。
4。丰富的平台集成能力，分别在视图层，数据访问层，组件互操作层，都进行广泛的基于开放标准的集成，即在统一的UI上集成各种展现层软件组件，集成组件间、组件与服务器通信，集成各种后台应用，比如Siebel，SAP，Oracle，Exchange，Domino和其它的系统。
5。支持富客户端和浏览器独立的瘦客户端。
6。支持基于服务器（Portal，DMS）来统一管理客户端，比如软件更新，配置，部署等
7。支持移动和离线访问，比如手持设备，断网透明操作等。
8。丰富的开发工具和套件，用于原创性开发，扩展，程序移植等，比如ms vb转移到J2ee平台

现在LE已经成为IBM统一的客户端平台，是客户端最最基础的平台，目前很多IBM客户端的产品是基于Expeditor做的，个人认为在Linux平台上始终缺乏与。net抗衡的平台，希望这个能够引起大家的兴趣和重视。

不适合国情，国内的企业和政府还是不会白老鼠的。
这个是在R8上的，国内企业还在R6-R7上徘徊呢。
感觉IBM在大力推光这个，也去听过类似的课，还是学好基础的再说吧
